clean eating & blueberry smoothie

summer is pretty near... and with it also most girls' fear: the summer body... ahem, i know, silly topic... so let's make this short and painless. this year, i plan to (finally... for once) focus on getting in shape. it's not about loosing weight, mainly. it's mostly about feeling more healthy. i've always fancied the clean eating trend. so i spontaneously declared the month of may to be devoted to clean eating.

but what does it mean, clean food? a simple rule of thumb for clean food says "don't eat anything with more than three ingredients in it"; i.e. eliminate processed foods, focus on vegs and fruit, grains should be whole, less sugar. i can totally do this.

since there are quite a few (good, but not very diet conform...) dishes (read: desserts) posts in the pipeline - and of course we don't want to miss these - i'll still continue to post regularly. and at the same time, i'll keep you up to date about the clean eating endeavor. sounds like a good deal?

let's start with a smoothie, to get us into the right swing...

blueberry smoothie

ingredients:
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana
1 cup soy milk
1 tbsp. almond butter
1 tbsp. chia seeds (and / or flax seeds)
optional: 1 tbsp. maple syrup

directions:
put all ingredients in a food processor and blend until smooth (smoothie, eh, you get it?). this might take some time since the frozen berries can be a little stubborn... season with maple syrup, if you are a sweetie.
