here are four things that i am currently focusing on and that are fostering my domestic goddess' dreams*:
1 kitchen aid in white
2 classic soup bowls with lion heads on the side
3 simple white cake stand
4 le creuset casserole currently available in white
well, for one, i actually really need (emphasize) a new mixer. mine (which has been crappy since the beginning, i assume, that much has to be said, for fairness' sake) is old, broken, not nice. intense head shaking going on around here. and tut-tut-ing, too. whereas a kitchen aid is actually a gem and a decor element on it's own, don't you find? the soup bowls are available anywhere, really, they're such classics. i don't know why i still don't have them in my collection? this cake stand is just a nice example for any other white, puristic one. it might also be a bit more whimsy, with more details, maybe? i wouldn't mind. and last but not least: i know i've posted the famous le creuset before, and i know you've got it that i like them (i'll stop, soon). but don't you just have to love this white (and limited, i believe?) edition?
* cough-cough, don't tell anyone i admitted i were having any... it's embarrassing. but it's also sort of true. sigh.

Oh my gosh, what a perfect list of must have whites. I LOVE the casserole simply because I have been yearning for a perfect casserole pot like the ones on cooking shows. Then again, who doesn't want a Kitchen Aid right :)
ReplyDeleteWhite is my favorite kitchen color, too. I recently bought a snow white caquelon :) With regard to KA and Le Creuset I think the ivory ones are fine as well (don't own them yet)...
ReplyDeleteWhen are you coming to B exactly? We MUST meet in person!! Alas I am pretty much off town during the next weekends :/
Of course I have a lot of favorite addresses though some are either unspectacular like Sorsi e Morsie aka my second living room (smoky Italian wine bar), Hilde (charming cafe with WLan, a perfect place to write blog posts :)) or trashy like ZMF Möbelfabrik (club, then you must go to "Mein Haus am See" before).
If you are here just for the weekend I recommend you to book a fancy restaurant like Grill Royal (to spot Hollywood stars), Facil (most beautiful lunch menu) Cookies Cream (really edgy Club Restaurant) or Solar (stunning view of the city).
Cozier great eateries: Gorki Park (a sweet, eastern style cafe for a great brunch), Sasaya (authentic Japanese institution, don't miss Wohnzimmer afterwards around the corner), Yam Yam (delicious Korean Bibimbap and Kimchi pancakes), Makoto (for solid Ramen), Barcomi (American deli).
The interesting shopping streets are around Mulackstr. My favorite vintage stores: Garments in Linienstr (beautiful shop), Cache Coeur (all the crazy designers stuff) and Memory (in Swedter Str).
If you have the time you should definitely hear a live act either at West Germany (a trashy, really Berlin style Club with great concerts) or Madame Claude or Intersoup (cozy cafe-bars with a concert room in the basement).
If the weather is nice (I will keep fingers crossed!) Club der Visionäre and the area around Schlesisches Tor is the most exciting place to be.
This must be my longest comment ever, I hope I didn't go over the top :)
Lots of Love and warm hugs, Su
